Summer Day 19: Something Wicked This Way Comes...

HP VII part II is coming up soon! If you can't already tell by my tattoo below I am a HUGE Harry Potter fan. For this premire coming up on the 15th I am dressing up as a Death Eater. For HP VII part I I was Luna Lovegood (hello- the hair!). Anyways today I went to the fabric store and bought the material to make my cloak and the Boy's Dumbledore's costume!

Unlike the smaller projects I have been working on lately this job required a sewing machine, so I pulled out my not-so trusty Dressmaker (I believe its a 998 B) and after an hour of messing with it got the damned thing to sew. It still has tension and jamming problems but I'm getting the job done. Oh, ALSO I no longer have the pedal so that sucks extra golden snitches.

I will show off my completed look next week when its time for the midnight premiere!

Summer Day 16: Just a bit of sewing

Today was a relatively good one, started off with a nice swim and tanning sesh at the pool and then went to work. Tonight the Boy is grilling for dinner! Yum!
I had a few dresses in the back of my closet that really needed some hemming that I finally got done. By hand of course, haha!

Summer Day 15: Today I recycled!

Today we took in a whole bunch of stuff to the recycling centers. We had so many plastic bags, batteries, multiple cellphones, broken electronics, light bulbs and printer cartridges just piling up in the closet. It felt so good to dispose of these things properly. Allied Waste is our local recycling service and they have a great recycling depot where we look all of our stuff in to be recycled and properly dispose of.

The Allied Waste website is very helpful when it comes to where and what to recycle. Remember light bulbs and batteries do not belong in the trash! I also found that Earh911.com has a great website that allows you to find places to recycle in your area, and Thedailygreen.com outlines the differences between types of plastics.

Remember that  grocery stores such as Albertsons, Fred Meyer and Winco have collection bins for plastic bags.  Most air-filled packaging material (not bubble wrap) and plastics such as bread bags (any #4 LDPE) can be recycled there too!

Styrofoam and bubble-wrap are probably the two hardest things to recycle. Many places do not accept them, but a lot of places online can help you find places to take packaging peanuts and the like.

And for printer ink and toner can be recycled too at stores such as Staples and OfficeMax, and if you sign up, you can get rewards for recycling them there.

Okay so we still don't know for sure the sex of baby bird but we do have a name now!

Introducing:
Tiny Dancer.

So in case you haven't read my earlier entry Summer Day 1, I am taking at least one picture a day and blogging about each day of summer. I hope that this way I will feel a sense of accomplishment and to also feel like the summer doesn't just fly by like it usually does. Its Day 13 already! Sheesh. A lot of blogging and a lot of adventures.
